The Arc of Riverside County – Advocacy Organization for People with Developmental Disabilities – Appoints New CEO
Erin Stream will assume leadership of The Arc, succeeding her father, Jim Stream
Riverside, CA – The Arc of Riverside County (The Arc), an organization that’s been serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1953, recently named Erin Stream as its new CEO. She has worked for the agency since 2006, just after earning a bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University.
Stream has been around The Arc since she was a child, watching her father, Jim Stream, successfully run the organization for decades. Mr. Stream passed away in 2017 after a battle with cancer.
“I want to build on what my dad worked so hard to achieve. Quality care, advocacy, and providing meaningful opportunities for the people we serve remain our greatest priorities.”
The Arc’s board of directors, made up of local community members, agreed that Erin would be the right person for the agency’s next era of service.
“I believe I reflect the attitude of the entire Board, when I say that we are thrilled to have such a bright, determined, and passionately committed leader for our organization to follow as we move ahead. We look forward to a promising future filled with challenges, solutions, and growth,” said long time Board Member, Stan Morrison.
Since Erin first began working at The Arc, she has served in multiple roles, working in human resources, fundraising, and special events. These positions have given her a better understanding of the types of challenges facing the disability community in California. “Funding and staffing continue to be major issues for service providers like Arc,” she said.
“There are dedicated people providing excellent care to individuals who are often overlooked and undervalued. I want to work toward a stronger and more fulfilling future for people with developmental disabilities, their families, and the people who serve them,” she continued.
Erin is an active member of both the National Conference of Executives of The Arc of the United States and the California Conference of Executives of The Arc of California. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Greater Riverside Dollars for Scholars and Greater Riverside Employer Advisory Council. She’s now working on earning a master’s in nonprofit management from Louisiana State University Shreveport.
Founded in 1953, The Arc of Riverside County currently serves 400 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Riverside County. The Arc of Riverside County is accredited by CARF (the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and is affiliated with The Arc of California, and The Arc of the United States.
